Neuro ICU RN Job Details
- Location: Aurora, Colorado 80045 (Denver metro area)
- Unit: 24-bed Neurosurgical ICU – Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level I Trauma Center
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: January 5, 2026 – End: April 6, 2026)
- Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
- Shifts: Rotating Days & Nights, 12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30 or 19:00–07:30); minimum 50/50 split over 6 weeks
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
- On-Site Position
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Charting System: Epic EMR
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2020–$2070
ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado or compact state (required for Colorado nursing jobs)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
- NIHSS certification
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a dedicated Neuro ICU or Neurosurgical ICU
- Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Experience with Epic or similar EMR systems
- Proficiency in hourly neurological assessments, intracranial pressure management, and post-neurosurgical care
- First-time travel nurses welcome if experience requirements are met
Neuro ICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized nursing care for patients with acute neurological conditions, including post-craniotomy, stroke, and traumatic brain injury
- Operate and manage advanced neurocritical care equipment: EVDs, lumbar drains, arctic sun, camino bolts, BIS monitoring, and noninvasive cardiac output monitoring
- Perform hourly neuro assessments and manage intracranial pressure
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, sedation, and emergency medications
- Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, rapid response)
- Float to other hospital units as needed
- Maintain infection prevention and isolation precautions
- Document patient care using Epic EMR
