Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20774
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: January 5, 2026 (or ASAP)
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:30 - 08:00)
• Shift Duration: 12 Hour Nights
• Shifts per Week: 3
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel RN
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,930 - $2,070
• Self-Scheduling: Yes
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
• Patient Ratio: 1:2 (up to 1:3 for lower acuity)
• Floating: Required within Labor & Delivery specialty units

Labor & Delivery Nurse Qualifications

• Active Maryland or Compact Registered Nurse license required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (2 years preferred)
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS (AHA), NRP (AAP or NRP), and STABLE certifications required
• Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system preferred
• Charge RN, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Ability to float within hospital specialty units as needed
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Two recent professional references (one supervisor/manager and one charge RN) required
• Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections (C-sections)
• Circulate for C-sections and provide post-operative recovery care
• Administer blood products, magnesium sulfate therapy, insulin drips, and Pitocin
• Perform sterile vaginal exams, pain assessments, and triage of obstetrical patients
• Monitor patients using external fetal heart monitoring (EFM) and infusion pumps
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central lines (CVC/PICC)
• Implement isolation precautions and use PPE as required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to other Labor & Delivery or women’s health units as needed
