PACU RN Job Details

• Job Title: PACU Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Washington, DC 20010
• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/20/2026 – End: 4/21/2026)
• Shift: Day shifts, 4x10-hour (06:30–17:00 or 09:00–19:30)
• Hours per Week: 40
• No on-call or weekend shifts
• Unit: Third Floor PACU (11 rooms, daily census ~40)
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Floating: May float to main Operating Room (OR) as needed

PACU Nurse Qualifications

• Active DC Registered Nurse license (pending accepted, must be obtained before start date)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU nursing experience, including blood product administration, infection control, specimen handling, and PACU procedures
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (minimum 80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
• Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting system preferred
• Preferred: Trauma Level I nursing experience
• Two supervisor references required

PACU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality post-anesthesia nursing care to diverse patient populations
• Monitor and manage patients recovering from surgical procedures including vascular access, robotics, urology, oral maxillofacial, breast oncology/plastics, gynecology (GYN), uroGYN, podiatry, burn, ophthalmology, and general surgeries
• Administer blood products and medications as needed
• Ensure accurate specimen handling and labeling
• Implement infection control protocols and isolation precautions
• Perform pain assessment and management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Float to main OR as required by patient census
