Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU night shift travel opportunity in Albany, GA. Join a cardiac stepdown/telemetry team on a 17-week contract caring for post-op cardiovascular patients.
Job Details
- Location: Albany, GA 31701 (Albany healthcare jobs, Georgia travel nurse)
- Setting: Acute Care – Cardiac Stepdown Unit / Telemetry (Progressive Care Unit)
- Contract Duration: 17 weeks (March 16, 2026 – July 13, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45pm – 6:45am)
- Hours: 48 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Number of Positions: 3
- Dress Code: Caribbean Blue scrubs; natural colored hair; no fake nails or shellac; no facial piercings; no visible tattoos
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent stepdown or cardiac stepdown experience in an acute care setting (PCU / telemetry)
- Active RN license (must meet state requirements)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Strong ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry and ECG strips
- Comfortable with fast patient turnover and ability to float to ICU for stepdown patients (ICU experience preferred)
- Must live at least 75 miles from facility (strict radius rule)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for patients recovering from cardiovascular procedures and surgeries (CABG, EVAR/AAA repairs, stents, pacemakers, AICD, ablations, CEA, fem-pop bypasses, thoracotomy)
- Monitor telemetry and titrate cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin) per protocol
- Manage respiratory support modalities including BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm and high-flow oxygen
- Assess and manage chest tubes, fluid status, and signs of heart failure or arrhythmia (AFib with RVR, CHF)
- Participate in rapid admissions/discharges and maintain efficient patient throughput for a fast-paced cardiac stepdown unit
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, hospitalists/intensivists, pharmacy, respiratory therapy and nurse aides (24/7 support)
- Complete floor-specific orientation (3 shifts) and adhere to facility dress code and attendance policies
- Maintain flexibility for holiday and weekend coverage
