• Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required prior to first shift
• Minimum 1 year of bedside clinical experience on a medical-surgical unit required (2 years bedside Med/Surg experience highly desired)
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills for medical-surgical patient care

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all medical-surgical patients within 8 hours of admission
• Develop individualized plans of care and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal outcomes
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating
• Initiate discharge planning and provide patient teaching starting at admission to promote safe transitions of care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
• Promote patient and staff safety by following hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols
• Communicate changes in patient status to providers to ensure continuity and patient safety
• Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary nursing personnel while maintaining high standards of bedside care
• Participate in team-building and quality improvement activities to support a positive unit culture
• Maintain communication with management regarding supplies, equipment, and training needs
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested and support unit operations
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current in Med/Surg nursing best practices
