Join a Cardiac Stepdown RN travel assignment in Utica, NY—13-week IMCU/PCU contract for experienced telemetry and stepdown nurses. Work in a modern Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) caring for complex cardiac, neuro, trauma, and respiratory patients while enjoying Central New York amenities and easy access to the Adirondacks.
Key Qualifications: Active New York RN license, 2+ years IMCU/PCU or cardiac stepdown experience, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, EPIC experience.
Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,040 - $2,140 (competitive travel nursing pay)
- Location: Utica, NY 13502 — Central New York / Adirondacks access
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 25, 2026)
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (6:30am – 7:00pm). Block scheduling is never promised or guaranteed.
- Unit: IMCU (Intermediate Care Unit) – 64 beds, 15 designated Neuro beds
- Patient Population: Adults (18+)
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years recent IMCU/PCU or cardiac stepdown experience; travel nursing experience required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York (NURSYS verification required)
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical record (EMR)
- Completed skills checklist matching specialty (cardiac/neurology/respiratory)
- Valid driver’s license with address matching demographics
- Ability to float to other units as needed
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to cardiac, neuro, trauma, and respiratory patients (COPD, DKA, Sepsis, MI, CV stepdown, post-op)
- Monitor telemetry and hemodynamics; manage temp pacers, chest tubes, arterial lines (A-lines), Bipap, Neptune Vapo, and chronic ventilator support with RT collaboration
- Administer medications safely, manage IV infusions, and respond to patient changes per unit protocols
- Perform accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapy, PT/OT, case management) to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and adhere to infection control and unit-specific policies
