Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state of practice required)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum 1 year of recent bedside clinical experience in a Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) setting
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and patient education skills

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered medical-surgical nursing care for assigned patients
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission
• Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct patient care focused on positive outcomes
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching beginning at admission
• Communicate changes in patient status to providers to ensure continuity and safety
• Supervise and direct ancillary nursing personnel and support staff as needed
• Promote patient and staff safety by adhering to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards
• Contribute to team building, unit efficiency, and a positive work environment
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education relevant to Med/Surg practice
