Travel RN - Med Surg (Medical-Surgical)

Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information

Unit: MedTele 61417
Floor: 6
Number of Beds: 33 rooms (up to 49 patients with some semi-private rooms)
Number of Staff: 62 total
Day Shift Staff: 2 charge nurses, 2 techs, 6-7 RNs
Night Shift Staff: 1 charge nurse, 1.5 techs, 5-6 RNs
Patient Ratios: 4:1 (day), 5:1 (night)
Equipment: Telemetry monitoring
EMR System: Meditech

Job Description

Specialty: Medical-Surgical nursing with telemetry monitoring
Typical Procedures: Wound care, occasional bowel programs, light burn care
Patient Population: Busy medical floor specializing in surgical flap patients, spinal cord injury patients with stage 4 wounds requiring surgical intervention, and low-acuity burn patients (in partnership with burn unit)
Environment: Semi-private rooms used occasionally during high census (not preferred)
Personality Fit: Nurses who enjoy a busy floor environment

Requirements

Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support)
Licenses: Registered Nurse License
Experience: Med/Surg background required
Preferred Experience: Experience working with spinal cord injury (SCI) patients

Contract Length

13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Additional Notes

The unit is busy and specialized, with experienced staff and a focus on complex wound care and surgical patients.
Collaboration with burn unit for low-acuity burn care.
