CT Technologist - Boston, Massachusetts (Long-Term Assignment)
Position Overview
- Operate CT equipment (Siemens experience required) to acquire diagnostic images for physician use.
- Work under general supervision following established procedures.
- Float among radiology clinics and divisions as needed.
- Ensure proper patient preparation, positioning, immobilization, and use of protective shielding.
- Select appropriate imaging factors and image designated body parts.
- Explain exams to patients considering their physical and emotional needs.
- Deliver patient care within scope of license and training.
- Maintain effective communication with departmental and hospital personnel.
- Calibrate and verify equipment operation daily; report malfunctions.
- Complete necessary paperwork and Radiology Information System functions for each exam.
- Perform venipuncture for contrast administration under radiologist direction.
- Attend staff meetings, in-services, and maintain CEUs per Massachusetts licensure and ARRT requirements.
- May oversee and instruct personnel and students in medical radiography, CT, nuclear medicine.
- Prepare equipment room and supplies; stock as needed.
- Participate in research, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
- Assume on-call coverage and remain flexible with shift coverage and overtime.
- Rotate within department, divisions, and off-site clinics as required.
- Transport and transfer patients per departmental guidelines.
- Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure during exams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology school.
- Current Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
- Registered in CT by ARRT or equivalent; must maintain ARRT CT certification.
- 2-3 years experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred, with at least 1 year in cross-sectional anatomy.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under physical/emotional stress.
- Analytical abilities to understand imaging processes, techniques, procedures, and cross-sectional anatomy.
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks.
Required Credentials and Compliance (Must be completed prior to or at onboarding)
- Current Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license and ARRT certification verification.
- BLS certification (AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted).
- MGB Badge Photo (recent color photo with plain background, no eyeglasses).
- Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days, updated annually.
- Documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity.
- Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions.
- TB test documentation within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test).
- Physician Health Statement within 365 days.
- Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, national sex offender registry, and exclusion checks.
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience.
- Two recent professional references (minimum one supervisor or above).
- Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet.
- Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required).
- Education verification through background check.
- Additional health and compliance documentation as required.
Additional Information
- Must be flexible with shift rotations and locations.
- On-call coverage required.
- Participation in departmental meetings and continuing education mandatory.
- May involve instruction and supervision of students and other personnel.
This position is ideal for experienced CT Technologists licensed in Massachusetts with ARRT CT certification, comfortable working in a Level 1 trauma environment, and able to adapt to multiple clinical settings within a large hospital system.
