Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Travel/Contract Position
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Facility: University of Kentucky Healthcare
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 14 weeks
- Shift: Four 10-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- Call Requirements:
- 1 late call per week (5:30 PM - 7:30 PM)
- 1 call shift per week (5:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
- 1-2 call weekends per 6-week schedule (Friday 5:30 PM - Monday 7:00 AM)
- Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted
Licensure & Experience Requirements
- Must have a Radiologic Technologist License in Kentucky through ARRT before start (pending license acceptable at submission)
- Level 1 experience preferred
- Certifications required before start:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - not needed at submission but must be obtained before start date
- EKG onboarding exam required
Preferred & Required Skills/Systems
- Preferred: Philips Single, Bi-Plane Angiography experience
- Required: Epic EHR, McKesson
Background Checks & Verifications
- Background check within 1 year, updated annually, including:
- County Criminal Background Search (last 7 years)
- National Criminal and Sex Offender Search
- FACIS III
- Education Verification or signed official transcript/diploma
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- HHS/OIG exclusion check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Sex Offender Search within 30 days of start, updated annually
Certifications & Competencies
- Must maintain current certifications with renewal plans in place if expiring during contract:
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI accepted)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI accepted)
- PALS (AHA only, RQI accepted; ENPC acceptable in lieu)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) if applicable
- CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
- State License verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) within 30 days of start
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for specific units (Cath Lab, Cardiac Tele, ICU, ER, etc.) with only two attempts allowed
- Competency exams required annually via Relias or equivalent:
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency
- Color Blind Testing
- Unit Specific Competency Exams
- Core Parts I, II, III
- Conscious Sedation Competency
- RN Math Ability Competency Exam
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, NP, or PA, confirming good health and ability to perform duties
- Fit Mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 or equivalent)
- Immunizations and titers required with annual updates or exemptions accepted:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation (annual, with exemptions accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccine or medical/religious exemption required; booster preferred but not required
- Drug testing within 1 year, updated annually, with specific panels required (amphetamines, barbiturates, cocaine, cannabinoids, opiates, etc.)
Documentation & History
- Two professional references verified within 6 months of start (manager or supervisor preferred)
- Employment application with explanation for any gaps over 30 days
- Employment verification for last 7 years, completed 8 business days prior to start
- Skills checklists updated annually and valid through contract duration
Additional Notes
- EKG exam must be completed within the first week of booking; passing score 80% or higher required
- Facility requires acknowledgment of pass/fail testing for certain units
- Various facility-specific policies and agreements must be signed prior to start
This position requires strict adherence to licensure, certification, health, and competency requirements to ensure compliance and readiness for assignment start.
