Unit Overview
- Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) / ECMO / Critical Care
- Number of Beds: 8
- Number of Staff: 25
- Typical Staffing:
- Day Shift: Charge nurse + 4 RNs
- Night Shift: Charge nurse + 4 RNs
- Patient Ratios: 2:1 or 1:1
- Weekend Shifts:
- Day shift: 4 weekend shifts per schedule (Sat/Sun)
- Night shift: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun)
Equipment & Technology
- GE bedside monitors
- Alaris IV pumps
- Pyxis medication system
- Centrimag ECMO circuits
- Impella CP & 5.5 devices
- Prismax CRRT machines
- Tablo SLED machines
- Maquet Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps
- EMR system: Meditech
Required Experience & Skills
- Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Management of titratable drips
- Understanding of hemodynamics
- Care of respiratory patients including vents, BiPAP, tracheostomies, Airvo
- Experience with open heart surgery recovery
- Experience with ECMO, Impella devices, and intra-aortic balloon pumps
- Experience with CRRT and SLED therapies
Preferred:
- CVICU charge nurse experience

- Central line and chest tube insertion
- Bronchoscopies
- Tracheostomies
- Intubation
Personality & Dress Code

- Professional attire required; specific dress code guidelines apply
Certifications & Licenses Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Certification
- Valid Registered Nurse License
