Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - RRT (Travel/Contract)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
On Call/Weekend: No on call; every other weekend required; holiday coverage expected
Float Requirement: Float between Adult and NICU units
Job Description
Perform airway management and suctioning including:
- Endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation
- Nasal and oral airway placement and suctioning
- Pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection
- Tracheostomy suctioning
- ABG (arterial blood gas) interpretation
Use and troubleshoot ventilators such as Draeger V500, Servo U
Administer respiratory medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Inhaled steroids, Isuprel, Lidocaine, Perforomist, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Terbutaline Sulfate, Tobramycin, Xopenex
Set up and manage aerosol masks, trach collars, nebulizers, BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
Assist in weaning from mechanical ventilation and high-risk deliveries
Comfortable drawing and analyzing ABGs
Use Cerner electronic charting system
Preferred skills: Bronchoscopy, Bicarbonate, Inhaled Flolan, Ketamine, Mucomyst, Nitric Oxide (INo), Theophylline
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in Adult Critical Care and NICU
- At least 1 prior travel assignment completed
- Maryland State licensure required
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC
- CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
- ED experience preferred

- Total Staffed Beds: 338
- Charting system: Cerner
- Scrubs: Not provided; recommended color is ceil blue
- Flu vaccine required for all employees
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including multi-state searches
- E-Verify and I9 documentation required
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Flu vaccine (or approved exemption) for current flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask use
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite)
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license verification
- Skills checklist and competency exams required prior to start and updated annually (including EKG/Dysrhythmia competency for applicable units)
Additional Notes
- Traveler will float between Adult and NICU units
- No on-call requirement but every other weekend and holiday coverage expected
- Facility requires strict adherence to vaccination policies, including flu and COVID-19
- Cerner electronic health record system used for charting
- Facility-specific orientation and safety modules must be completed prior to start
This position is ideal for experienced RRTs with critical care and NICU experience looking for a travel contract in a teaching hospital setting with night shifts and weekend coverage.
