Description

Travel RN Opportunity – Emergency Department, Asheville, NC

Location

  • Asheville, North Carolina
  • Emergency Department at a large regional hospital (licensed for 815 beds)
  • Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, Level III neonatal intensive care unit
  • Region’s busiest robotic surgery program and only open heart/interventional cardiology services

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Unit Details

  • Unit: Emergency Department (ER)
  • Number of Beds: 101
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 (medical), up to 7:1 on behavioral holds
  • Staffing: Techs available (cardiac monitoring, internal processing, triage), unit clerks days and nights
  • Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
  • Floating Policy: No floating outside ED; must float within all ED sections
  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs required

Certifications Required (before start date)

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS
  • TNCC
  • CPI
  • NIHSS
  • ENPC (within 90 days of hire)

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Level 2 trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
  • Experience in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits) preferred
  • At least 1 year ER nursing experience required
  • Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
  • Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
  • Flexibility to work in all areas of the ED

Patient Experience

  • Use of AIDET communication framework
  • Emphasis on respectful behavior and keeping patients informed throughout their visit
  • Patient information boards updated regularly

Work Environment

  • Known for strong teamwork and welcoming staff
  • Serves a diverse, multicultural community with over 120 languages spoken in the area
