Job Opportunity: CT Technologist (Full-time, Evenings)
Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Employment Type: Permanent
Shift: 2:00 pm to 12:30 am, 4-10 hour shifts
Overview
- Position in the CT Department within Medical Imaging and Radiology.
- Sign-on bonus available.

- Responsible for performing CT imaging procedures following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Expected to support the mission and vision of the healthcare organization and maintain high standards of clinical excellence and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Excellence / Patient Care
- Perform accurate and careful technical work in assigned areas.
- Complete procedural exams within specified turnaround times, adhering strictly to protocols and technical factors.
- Support and perform CT exams following the Imaging Gently Campaign guidelines.
- Administer contrast agents according to procedure guidelines and use power injectors correctly.
- Document all necessary information including patient history, quality control, and pregnancy status for females of childbearing age.
- Use AIDET communication framework (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) with every patient interaction.
- Assist with patient transfers using approved mobility equipment.
- Support student clinical and/or didactic instruction as needed.
Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain compliance with standards and requirements from regulatory bodies (e.g., IDPH, ACR, TJC).
- Adhere to safety practices (ALARA) to minimize radiation exposure.
- Wear radiation monitoring badge as required.
- Make independent decisions based on departmental policies and procedures.
Departmental Support
- Promote and support departmental goals, policies, and projects.
- Maintain productivity and communicate effectively with management and colleagues.
- Prioritize work and assist others as workload allows.
- Communicate clearly within and across departments to ensure accurate and timely information flow.
- Support the School of Radiology clinical competency system and student supervision policies.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and workspace; report malfunctions promptly.
Qualifications
- Current permit issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health.
- ARRT certification as a Radiographer required.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
- Annual completion of CT and Fluoroscopic Safety education.
- Clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.
- Appropriate training for assigned modality required.
- Experience with computer systems desirable.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work well with customers and coworkers.
- Demonstrates cooperative, courteous, and dependable work performance.
- High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Certifications & Licenses
- ARRT certification required.
- Iowa state license required (compact license allowed).
