Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Milford, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- License: Massachusetts RN license required
- Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday coverage
Certifications & Competencies
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA Only)
- BLS (AHA Only)
- Medication Exam (Pass/Fail) for all RNs
- Telemetry Exam (Pass/Fail) for RNs on telemetry units (one attempt only, 80% minimum)
- State License Verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification within 30 days prior to start
- Tech Cert Verification within 30 days of start
- Competency Exams as applicable
- Preferred Certifications:
- CHEMO (Oncology)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course, ER)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) for ER, NICU, PICU, OR, PACU, Pediatrics
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) for L&D, NICU, Nursery, Mother/Baby
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) for L&D (AWHONN Intermediate may be required)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
- ENPC as applicable
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start (includes SSN trace, county search, national criminal search, NSOR, OIG, SAME)
- Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance required within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification of highest completed education required
- Various background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG if run separately
- Sex offender search for subcontractors if run separately
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all candidates in MA (not required for subcontractors)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol (2 PPDs or QuantiFERON/T-Spot)
- TB Questionnaire required for all candidates
- Immunizations or valid declinations required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Hepatitis B (3-dose series, reactive titer, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, vaccine, history, or declination)
- Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccine (most recent as of 08/2025) or facility-specific declination
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (includes multiple drug panels)
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- 2 professional references within 3 years
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
- Medication and Telemetry exams must be passed on first day of orientation to avoid cancellation
- COVID-19 declination form required if declining updated vaccine (deadline 01/25/24)
Work Environment
- Facility is part of a hospital system in Massachusetts
- ICU setting with critical care responsibilities
- Coverage includes every other weekend and holidays
This position is suitable for experienced ICU RNs licensed in Massachusetts who meet the certification, background, and health requirements listed above.
