Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Licensure: Massachusetts RN license in hand required
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience required
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
    • EPIC experience preferred
  • Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Call Outs: Any call outs must be made up at the end of the assignment

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • Massachusetts Statewide (iCORI) Release (updated annually)
  • 7-year Criminal Background Check within 30 days of start, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • 7-year County search
    • National Criminal search
    • OIG, NSOR, EPLS/GSA/SAM checks as applicable
  • Education Verification (3rd party verification of highest completed education)
  • Transcript acceptable if education verification is unperformable (diplomas not accepted)
  • Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search (for tracking only)
  • Physical Exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
  • Drug Testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)
  • Immunizations and Declinations as applicable:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
    • TB testing (2 PPDs or QuantiFERON/T-Spot) and TB Questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or declination (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or declination
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccination or declination (most recent vaccine required)
  • Medication and Telemetry Competency Exams (pass required on first day of orientation)
  • References: 2 references within 3 years of start
  • Employment Application: 7 years employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Skills Checklist: Required prior to start and updated annually as applicable

Preferred Certifications (Not Required)

  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – preferred for Oncology
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – preferred for ER
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • NALS (Neonatal Advanced Life Support)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – may be required for Labor & Delivery
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – preferred for Psychiatry, not required for ED
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must pass medication and telemetry exams with a minimum score of 80% on the first day of orientation to avoid cancellation.
  • Some certifications and competencies may be required depending on the specific unit or specialty area.
  • COVID-19 declination forms and other vaccine declinations have specific requirements and expiration dates.
  • Any positive TB results require additional documentation and clearance before starting.
