Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT-NICU)
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Requirements
- Specialty: RRT-NICU (Registered Respiratory Therapist - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years required
- First-time travelers: Not accepted for this unit
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Provider only
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist credential)
- New Hampshire State License
Job Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
- Call Requirement: None
- Float Requirement: None
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW) required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start, including:
- Social Security Verification
- National Sex Offender Registry Search
- National Criminal Search
- FACIS Level 3
- Education Verification
- Criminal county searches (7 years) for all locations except NH counties (NH State Police Search required instead)
- State of NH Criminal Background Report
- BEAS (Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services) Background Report for NH placements
- Motor Vehicle Background Check (if applicable for Home Health/Hospice/Visiting Nurse roles)
- Additional Checks: EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG must be run within 30 days prior to start
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 14 days prior to start (with a 7-day grace period if pushed)
- References: Two current professional references within the last 3 years, including one from a supervisor or charge RN
- Employment Application and Skills Checklist: Required
- Internal Evaluation: Required annually for travelers with Aya or agency for 1+ year
Certifications and Competencies
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider only
- BLS - AHA Provider only
- PALS - AHA Provider only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred
- Tech Certification (as applicable)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (OSHA education)
- State License copy and verification (including NH Med Tech License if applicable)
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for certain units
- Competency Exams:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (internal requirement)
- Competency Exam (internal requirement)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (time-sensitive for Southern NH hospitals only)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year prior to start
- Fit Mask Test: Annual fit test required for clinical candidates (N95 or equivalent masks)
- Immunizations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years; titers not accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (True 2-Step PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year)
- TB Questionnaire (required for all travelers)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Immune titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart
- Hepatitis B: Immune titer or 3 vaccines at least 28 days apart; declinations accepted with waiver
- Varicella: Immune titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart; history of disease NOT accepted
- Flu Vaccination: Required annually during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 1)
- Medical and religious exemptions allowed with proper documentation and approval
- RespSafety Clearance: Required for all clinical travelers (virtual questionnaire reviewed by licensed professional)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo (jpeg) for badge
- Proof of auto insurance (if applicable for Home Health/Hospice/Visiting Nurse roles)
- Compliance attestation must be completed by Clinical Liaison or agency representative
- Various exemption forms for flu and Hepatitis B vaccines available and required if applicable
Important Notes
- Travelers who have ever been employed by any facility associated with the health system are not eligible
- Background checks and all required documentation must be complete and clear prior to start; no exceptions for pending searches except NH county searches
- Candidates must comply with all state-specific licensing and background requirements
- Pass/fail testing and competency exams are critical and may impact contract continuation
