Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Facility Type: Level 1 Trauma Facility


Job Details

  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
  • Call Policy: Any call outs must be made up at the end of the assignment

Requirements

  • Licensure:
    • Massachusetts RN license in hand required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years ICU experience required
    • Prefer 5+ years ICU experience in a Level 1 Trauma facility
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
  • Preferred Skills:
    • EPIC electronic health record experience preferred

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • Massachusetts Statewide (iCORI) Release (updated annually)
  • 7-year Criminal Background Check (within 30 days of start) with annual updates for direct candidates
  • Education Verification (3rd party verification of highest completed education)
  • State License Verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical Exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions
  • Drug Testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)
  • Immunizations and Declinations as applicable:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or declination (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or declination
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccination or declination (most recent vaccine required)
  • TB Testing:
    • Two PPDs (one within 90 days, one within 1 year) or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days
    • TB Questionnaire required for all candidates
  • Pass/Fail Testing:
    • Medication Exam required for all RNs and LPNs
    • Telemetry Exam required for RNs working in telemetry units (one attempt only, minimum 80% score)
  • References: Two references within three years of start
  • Employment Application: Must include 7 years of employment history and explanation of gaps over 30 days
  • Skills Checklist: Required prior to start and updated annually as applicable

Additional Preferred Certifications (may be required depending on unit)

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – preferred for ER
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – preferred for Oncology
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • NALS (Neonatal Advanced Life Support)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – may be required for Labor & Delivery
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Notes

  • Candidates must pass required medication and telemetry exams on the first day of orientation to avoid cancellation.
  • Some declinations are not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, and NICU units.
  • Any positive TB results require a chest X-ray and physician clearance.
  • Compliance with all background checks, immunizations, and documentation is mandatory prior to start.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with trauma experience seeking a travel contract in Massachusetts.
