Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OB) - Indianapolis, Indiana
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (OB)

- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: Days, 4x12 hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Floating: Possible, rarely to NICU as helping hands
- Block Schedule: Not guaranteed but unit will try to accommodate if requested
- On-call: Not required
- Holiday Requirement: Not required
Experience & Qualifications
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- First-time Travelers: Not accepted
- Specialty Focus: Strong labor nurses needed; unit includes LDRP with High Risk/Antepartum patients
- Specific Skills: Must be able to circulate own C-Section cases
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Preferred Certifications
- AWHONN Intermediate
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Licensing & Location Requirements
- Must live at least 50 miles away from all facilities in the hospital system (no locals accepted)
- Pending licenses may be considered per contract terms
Uniform & Parking
- Scrub Color: Seal Blue
- Parking: No cost
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including education and license verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Education verification (ASN or BSN required; MSN not accepted)
- National sex offender registry check within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by a physician, NP, or PA
- Immunizations and titers required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot within 30 days)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or proof of 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccination series; declination form required)
- Varicella (positive titer or proof of 2 vaccines)
- Flu vaccine required annually (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- COVID-19 medical/religious exemption forms accepted but subject to facility approval
Competency Exams & Training
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 84% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for ER, ICU, PCU/Tele)
- Core Part I, II, III exams (Prophecy Exam accepted)
- OSHA Mandatory training
- Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (if applicable)
Additional Requirements
- Minimum 2 references from managers or supervisors within 1 year of start (Charge RN references accepted)
- Annual unit-specific skills checklist
- Facility-specific documents and acknowledgements must be completed prior to start, including:
- Health Screen (Hospice only)
- Badge and device return policy
- Photo ID for badge (specific photo requirements)
- Various facility-specific acknowledgements (privacy, HR policies, confidentiality, etc.)
This position is ideal for experienced OB nurses with strong labor and delivery skills who are comfortable working in a high-risk antepartum and LDRP setting. The role requires flexibility with scheduling and occasional floating to NICU. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and competency exams is mandatory.
