Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Facility: Level 1 Trauma Center (preferred)
Unit: Critical Care/ICU with EP Lab experience required


Schedule

  • 4 shifts per week
  • 10-hour shifts
  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Some late shifts required

Contract Length

  • 14 weeks

Required Experience & Skills

  • Critical Care/ICU experience
  • EP Lab experience
  • Trauma Level 1 preferred

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI accepted
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - required for Labor & Delivery
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy certification) if applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) if applicable
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - required for ICU, ER, Cath Lab, Telemetry, PACU, Step Down, and other critical units
  • State Nursing License verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) within 30 days of start
  • Certification for First Assist RNs if applicable

Required Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%)
  • Color Blind Testing (passing score 80%)
  • Unit Specific Competency Exams (annual renewal, passing score 80% or Modified Angoff score)
  • Core Parts I, II, III (annual renewal, passing score 80%)
  • Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (annual renewal)
  • RN Math Ability Competency Exam (annual renewal, minimum 80% passing score)

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Background Check within 1 year, updated annually (includes county and national criminal checks, sex offender search, FACIS III, education verification)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • HHS/OIG exclusion check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Transcript/Diploma and Education Verification required
  • Sex Offender Search within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Work History Verification for last 7 years, completed 8 business days prior to start
  • Employment Application with explanation for any gaps over 30 days
  • Two professional references verified within 6 months of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year, updated annually (must state good health and no physical limitations)
  • Fit Mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 or equivalent)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • TB Questionnaire annually for positive TB history
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; booster if equivocal/negative; religious/medical exemptions accepted and updated annually
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination (updated annually)
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if equivocal/negative; religious/medical exemptions accepted and updated annually
  • Drug Testing within 1 year, updated annually (specific drug panels required)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption, updated annually
  • COVID-19 Vaccination or approved exemption, updated annually
  • COVID-19 Booster preferred but not required

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted
  • Must review and sign facility policies including Acceptable Use, Confidentiality, Electronic Communications, and Password Policy prior to start
  • EKG Exam must be completed within the first week of booking (passing score 80%, pass/fail with limited attempts)
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for ICU, ER, PACU, Telemetry, and other critical units

Notes

  • All certifications, competencies, and health documents must be current and not expire during the contract period. Renewal plans must be in place if expiration occurs during assignment.
  • Candidates must complete all required exams and background checks within specified timeframes prior to or shortly after contract signing.
  • This position requires strict compliance with all facility and system policies and procedures.
