Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Active RN license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience (no first-time travelers)
- Must have BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications
- At least 1 year of EPIC experience required
- Floating to other units required based on skill set
- Weekend coverage and on-call duties required
Clinical Skills & Special Procedures
- Triage assessments
- Inductions
- Cesareans
- External versions
- Non-Stress Tests (NSTs)
- Circumcisions
- Newborn resuscitation/stabilization
- Magnesium Sulfate administration
Certifications & Training Requirements
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only, valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC only, valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Advanced NRP required, AHA only, valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- AWHONN Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): Required as applicable, 2-year expiration
- STABLE Certification: Required for L&D and NICU, cannot expire during assignment
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI: Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health RNs; must be current and valid
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for ER/ED and Pediatric ER candidates; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course): Required for ER and Pediatric ER; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for ICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU, SICU, MICU, Med Surg/Telemetry, Stepdown, ER, Pediatric ER, PCU, PACU, Observation Unit, LTACH, IR, and Endoscopy; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- Lactation Certificate: Required for all Women’s RN candidates (L&D, Mother/Baby); valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- State RN License Verification: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start, license cannot expire within 30 days of start
Compliance & Documentation
- Background check within 12 months, including 7-year history and alias searches
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually (5-panel minimum)
- Physical exam within 1 year, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working/floating in high-risk areas)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption required (not required for 100% remote)
- Respirator Fit Test to be completed onsite during orientation
- Photo for badge with specific background and quality requirements
Orientation & Testing
- Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment
- Pass/Fail testing (Medication and Arrhythmia exams) required for RNs; two attempts allowed, 84% passing score
- Core Competency training (Parts I, II, III) required annually
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required annually
- Color Blind Testing required for Emergency Department and Pediatric ER nurses
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for RNs
Additional Notes
- Floating policy must be signed and renewed annually
- No first-time travelers; must have prior L&D experience
- Weekend and on-call coverage required
- Candidates must carry a valid driver’s license for computer access setup
- Background checks and certifications must be current and valid at start and throughout assignment
- Facility is latex-free; latex allergies are acceptable
