Job Requirements & Details

• Minimum Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)
• Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Unit: Renal Med Surg
• Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Unit Size: 49 rooms, average daily census of 48
• Electronic Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
• Floating: Yes
• Call Requirements: None
• Holiday Work:

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays, expected to work both
  • If 3 major holidays, expected to work 2 of them
• Major Holidays Include:

  • New Year’s Eve and Day
  • Spring Break (April 6-12, no RTO)
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving/Black Friday
  • Christmas Eve and Day

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
• Other certifications may be required depending on specialty (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) – check specialty-specific requirements

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance required to start on time
• Non-compliance results in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours NBO)

Background & Health Requirements

• Background check required within 30 days of start, including:

  • Criminal searches (national, sex offender, FACIS 3)
  • Education verification
• Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
• TB questionnaire required annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable under certain conditions)

Competency Exams & Testing

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for RNs by Aya
• Color Blind Testing required for all candidates
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain specialties (Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac step-down, ICU, PCU)
• Competency exams required by Aya, not by client

• Locals accepted at same rate
• Floating required
• No call requirements
• Must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
• References: 2 clinical references required by Aya (not required by client)
• Skills checklist within 12 months required
• Work history verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a renal medical-surgical unit with adult to geriatric patients, using Epic and other clinical systems, with a supportive schedule and clear compliance and credentialing requirements.
