Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Pediatrics) - Travel/Contract

Location: Largo, Maryland
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Peds RN)

Job Description

  • Pediatric RN with Trach/Ventilator experience required
  • Alternating Day/Night shifts, 36 hours every other week (EOW)
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Start Date: January 7, 2026, or ASAP
  • Unit: Pediatric Pediatric/Surgical unit with preferred experience in:
    • Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
    • Prematurity
    • Apnea of Prematurity (AOP)
    • Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)
    • Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia/Chronic Lung Disease (BLD/CLD)
    • Cardiac defects
    • Feeding issues
    • Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) and iatrogenic NAS
    • Trach care experience is required
  • Floating: May be required to float to the main location in Baltimore
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
  • Holidays: Required as scheduled
  • On-Call: Not required

Licensure & Certifications Required

  • Maryland RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA only (refer to unit requirements)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA/AAP only (refer to unit requirements)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA only (refer to unit requirements)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, STABLE)

Experience & Competencies

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (score 80% or higher)
  • Age-specific competency exam required (score 80% or higher)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam generally required except for this location
  • Color Blind Testing required for all candidates

Background & Screening Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Employment and education verifications required
  • State-specific exclusion list check (Maryland Medicaid Sanctioned Providers List) within 30 days of start
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • References: Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
  • Employment history verification for previous 5 years (attestation accepted if necessary)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex screening
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required for pediatric units (within 10 years or signed declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol, updated annually
  • TB questionnaire if positive TB result
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (declination accepted for low/equivocal titer)
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required for this location but documentation may be collected for tracking

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Passport-style photo for badge with solid white/beige background
  • Signed job description prior to start
  • Completion of Portfolio Epic Training Test Out Form if applicable
  • Security ID application within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Confidentiality agreement signed prior to start
  • Dress code review prior to start
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire completion required
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training may be required depending on unit

Additional Notes

  • Floating to main Baltimore location may be required
  • Weekend and holiday shifts are mandatory as scheduled
  • On-call shifts are not required for this position
