Job Opportunity: Pediatric Echo Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Start Date: January 5, 2026
Job Details
- Shift/Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (5x8)
- On-Call: One weekend per month (Saturday/Sunday 7:30 AM to 7:30 AM) and weekday on-call from 6:30 PM to 7:30 AM
- Floating: Required within the department as needed
- Holidays: Required as scheduled
- Average Volume: 6-8 exams per day
- Staffing Ratio: 1:4 daytime/weekdays; 1:1 night/weekends
- Equipment Used: GE, Philips
- Uniform: Navy blue scrubs (pink for trauma assignments; pediatric staff may wear child-friendly tops with navy blue pants)
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Pediatric Echo Tech)
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
Licenses & Certifications Required
- ARDMS RDCS PE (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - Pediatric Echo)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Other certifications to consider (based on unit/job description):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, STABLE (as applicable)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- I9 or Attestation
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, SSN trace, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, education verification
- Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year (including Latex Allergy Questionnaire)
- Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunizations and titers:
- TB test (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-step PPD) updated annually
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- COVID vaccine: Not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Age Specific Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (score 80% or higher, excludes some roles)
Additional Information
- Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume must be completed within 30 days of start
- Previous 5 years of work history verification required (attestation accepted if necessary)
- Facility-specific dress code and badge photo requirements apply
- Candidates must sign confidentiality and job description agreements prior to start
- Portfolio Epic training test-out available for eligible candidates
