Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse

Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (Days)
  • Monday through Friday, no weekends
  • In-person position
  • Business casual attire

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of Registered Nurse experience
  • First-time travelers are welcome (prior travel experience NOT required)

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for certain units (Cath Lab Techs, Oncology, Critical Care, Telemetry)
  • NIH Stroke Certification - Required for all RNs except OR, PACU, and Family Birth Pavilion; must be updated annually
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, STABLE) - refer to unit/job description

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Competency Exam (as applicable by specialty)
  • Age Specific Competency Exam (required for all, including CNAs)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for most units except some specialties)

Licensure and Verification

  • State License primary source verification required
  • NURSYS Verification for RN licenses
  • Tech Certification Verification as applicable

Background and Compliance Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Education verification for highest level of education
  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
  • Felonies within past 5 years are automatic decline; older felonies require review

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (required for units working with children and some others)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual updates
  • TB Questionnaire if positive TB result
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted, series not accepted)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-45 days prior to start (instant tests NOT accepted)
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 6 - Mar 31)
  • COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking

Documentation and Other Requirements

  • I9 or attestation required prior to start
  • Government issued photo ID required
  • Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, dress code, appearance standards, parking, vehicle registration, and others must be reviewed and signed as applicable
  • Two professional references required, including at least one supervisor or charge RN
  • Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
  • Verification of previous 5 years of employment history required (attestation accepted if necessary)

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must complete all required documentation and compliance steps prior to start
  • Some training and competency modules may be completed during orientation
  • Facility may require additional unit-specific job descriptions and attestations

This position offers a structured weekday schedule with no weekend shifts, suitable for RNs with at least 3 years of experience, including those new to travel nursing.
