Job Opportunity: CT Technologist (Travel)

Location: Luray, Virginia
Facility Type: 25-bed Critical Access Hospital
Unit: Radiology


Position Summary

The CT Technologist performs computed tomography (CT) and general radiology procedures, including portable exams, to produce diagnostic cross-sectional images for patients of all ages (neonates through geriatric). The role involves patient positioning, equipment preparation, contrast administration, and adherence to radiation safety protocols under Radiologist supervision.


Responsibilities

  • Perform CT and X-ray procedures using optimal techniques for quality imaging.
  • Segment exams appropriately for PACS archive.
  • Prepare and position patients; monitor patient condition before, during, and after scanning.
  • Modify positioning, slice thickness, and administer intravenous contrast as ordered.
  • Explain procedures and gather patient history, including contrast history.
  • Perform contrast injections as ordered by physicians.
  • Report critical findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Enter data accurately into HIS and RIS systems, including exam orders, visit capture, and charge information.
  • Follow radiation safety, infection control policies, and National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Assist with patient transportation as needed.
  • Communicate with management regarding productivity and performance improvements.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain competence.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an AMA-accredited Radiology Technology program.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as a CT Technologist in a hospital setting (preferred).
  • Knowledge of human growth and development; ability to provide radiologic services for all age groups.
  • Proficient in cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication skills with physicians, peers, and patients.
  • Ability to perform general diagnostic radiography/fluoroscopy and portable radiography on all ages.
  • High accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques.
  • Ability to work in stressful environments.
  • Ability to operate CT scan and X-ray equipment with attention to detail.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays, including all shifts as needed.

Certifications / Licenses Required

  • BLS (AHA only)
  • ARRT Certification
  • Virginia State License (or license status if not currently held)

Work Schedule

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM (3x12 hour day shifts)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every Saturday and Sunday
  • On-Call: None
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
