Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 12-hour nights (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM), 36 hours accepted
Schedule: Every other weekend required, no call
License: NH state license required; subs with NH license pending will be accepted
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Minimum Experience: 1 year
- First-time travelers accepted
- Epic charting experience required
Department & Patient Population
- Acute care community hospital, 300 beds
- Units: ER, adult med/surg, adult critical care
- Respiratory Therapy driven protocols
- Patient age group: Infants to geriatrics required; neonates preferred
- Pediatric ER and pediatrics only if competency demonstrated
- No level 3 NICU coverage
Responsibilities
- Nebulizer treatments
- Chest physiotherapy (CPT)
- High flow oxygen therapy
- Non-invasive ventilation (NIV)
- Cough assist, IPV
- Assist with intubations and bronchoscopies
- Mechanical ventilation management
- In-house transport of mechanically ventilated patients
- Continuous albuterol administration
Required Experience
- Airway management
- Medication administration
- Ventilator management
- Arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Oxygen therapy
- Suctioning
- Pulmonary toileting
- Nebulizer treatments
- BiPAP and CPAP
- Bronchoscope use preferred
Preferred Equipment Experience
- Puritan Bennett ventilators
- Draeger ventilators
- Servo I ventilators
- LTV 1200/HT70 ventilators
Work Setting Experience
- Required: Trauma, Community Hospital, ER, Adult ICU
- Preferred: Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital, PICU, acute care pediatric experience
Certifications & Licenses
Required:
- BLS (AHA provider only)
- NH state license
Preferred:
- ACLS (AHA provider only)
- PALS (AHA provider only)
- CRTT
- RRT
Important Notes
- Travelers who have ever been employed by any facility associated with this health system are not eligible, regardless of separation length or duration worked.
- Background checks and verifications are required within 30 days of start, including Social Security verification, criminal background, education verification, and others as per facility policy.
- Drug screening (10-panel) required within 14 days prior to start.
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start required.
- Annual fit mask test required (N95 or equivalent).
- Immunizations required: Tdap (within last 10 years), flu vaccine (seasonal), TB test (2-step PPD or equivalent), MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or waiver). Religious and medical exemptions may be requested with proper documentation.
- Pass/fail testing (e.g., dysrhythmia/ECG) may be required depending on unit assignment.
- Respiratory Safety clearance questionnaire required prior to start.
- Two professional references within the last 3 years required.
- Various facility-specific waivers and attestations may be required for compliance.
Summary
This is a travel respiratory therapist position for a 13-week contract working 12-hour night shifts in a community hospital setting with a broad patient age range. The role requires solid respiratory therapy skills, experience with ventilators and airway management, and proficiency in Epic charting. Candidates must hold a New Hampshire license (or have one pending) and meet all certification and background requirements. The position involves working every other weekend with no call responsibilities.
