Job Opportunity: Laboratory Specialist (Travel/Contract)

• Schedule: 4x8 hour shifts, no weekends
• Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (will accept first-time travelers)

Compliance & Background Checks

• I9 or Attestation required
• Government Issued Photo ID required
• E-Verify or Attestation required
• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
• Felonies within past 5 years are automatic decline; older felonies require review
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification for highest level of education
• Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start

Health & Safety

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex Screen
• Fit test within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual updates
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination proof
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)

Competencies & Testing

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (as applicable)
• Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
• Competency exam relevant to specialty/profession
• Age-specific competency exam (required for all, including CNAs)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for most units except some specialties)

Facility Specific

• Passport-style photo with solid white/beige background required for badge
• Confidentiality agreement and dress code review required prior to start
• Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be completed prior to start
• Epic Portfolio Training Test Out form may be required depending on prior Epic experience

References & History

• Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
• Verification of previous 5 years of employment history (attestation accepted)

Summary

This is a travel/contract Laboratory position in Baltimore, MD requiring a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience. ASCP certification is mandatory, with BLS and ASCP-MLS preferred.
