Job Opportunity: Laboratory Specialist

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Part-time, 1 shift only
• Shifts available: Wednesday evening or Monday evening (one opening per shift)
• Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Certifications required: ASCP mandatory; BLS and ASCP-MLS preferred

Required Experience

• Specialty: Laboratory
• Minimum years of experience: 2 years
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Certifications & Competencies

• ASCP certification required
• BLS preferred
• Other certifications to refer to job/unit description as applicable: ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, STABLE, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI (as applicable)
• Competency exams required as applicable, including medication/pharmacology, color blind testing, age-specific competency, dysrhythmia/EKG (with exceptions)
• State License verification and professional license reviews required

Compliance & Background Checks

• I9 or attestation required
• Government-issued photo ID required
• E-Verify or attestation required
• Background check: 7-year criminal history within 30 days of start, updated annually
• Felony history within 5 years results in automatic decline
• Education verification required
• Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex Screen
• Fit test within 1 year of start (specific mask models accepted)
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual updates
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)

Documentation & Other Requirements

• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
• Verification of previous 5 years of employment history (attestation accepted if necessary)
• Passport/badge style photo with solid white/beige background required
• Confidentiality agreement and dress code acknowledgment required prior to start
• Various facility-specific documents and attestations to be completed prior to start
