Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Start dates desired: January 12th or 26th
• Must have experience in OB, Mother/Baby, and Labor & Delivery (L&D)
• May consider longer contracts
• No call requirement
• Weekend requirement: work every other weekend
• Will work in all areas of LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
• Float responsibilities:

  • Serve as sitter in the house when needed
  • Float to a nearby hospital (27 miles away) for labor and delivery and mother/baby units as census and need arise
• No Return to Office (RTO) for first 8 days of contract
• Patient ratios follow AWHONN staffing guidelines
• Unit details: 15 bed LDRP unit with 3 triage bays and 2 operating rooms
• RN duties include antepartum, labor and delivery, OR circulating, scrub nurse, newborn nurse at delivery, and couplet care
• Nurses perform lab draws and newborn hearing screens (training provided)
• Documentation system: EPIC

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN Intermediate and/or NCC C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)

Preferred Certifications:

• AWHONN Advanced
• Scrub skills

Required Skills

• Circulate in OR
• Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
• Triage skills

Preferred Skills:

• Scrub nurse experience

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in OB, Mother/Baby, and L&D

Work Schedule

• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other units and nearby hospital as needed

Equipment & Training

• EPIC documentation system
• Training provided for newborn infant hearing screens (ALGO 5 Machine)
• Scrubs provided

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• I-9 and E-Verify documentation
• Government issued photo ID
• Criminal background check within 45 days of start (lifetime search including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, statewide, education verification, MVR)
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions (tracking only for this role)
• Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma)
• State-specific Central Registry Clearance required for OB Mother-Baby units
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (Honeywell DC365N95HC) required onsite
• Immunizations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (including pertussis)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 45 days of start
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
• Drug testing: 10 panel including Marijuana/THC within 45 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required for candidates starting after November 1
• References: One professional reference from supervisor/manager required
• Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps

• Review and sign Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy prior to start
• Vaccine exemption forms required if applicable (medical or confidential vaccine exemption)
• Fit test appointment must be scheduled and completed prior to or on first day
