Travel RN - Med Surg/Oncology (Oncology Unit)

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: Medical Oncology (24 beds)
Staffing: 19 staff members, including 6 new nurses onboarding this month
Shift: Day Shift (7 AM - 7 PM)
Patient Ratio: 1:5
Care Model: Primary nursing care
EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) license
BLS certification
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience (higher experience requirement applied)
Experienced Med/Surg RN

Preferred Qualifications

Chemotherapy certification
ACLS certification

Typical Procedures

Standard Med/Surg care
Chemotherapy administration (only by chemo-certified nurses)

Work Environment & Culture

Positive, team-oriented unit with strong charge nurse support
Remote tele patients monitored alongside oncology patients
Magnet facility valuing nurse input on patient care
Use of iPhone nursing system for immediate communication among care team members
Known for strong teamwork and supportive atmosphere

Additional Notes

Vital signs performed every 8 hours (every 4 hours for remote tele patients)
Chemotherapy handling restricted to chemo-certified nurses
