Description

Travel RN - Med Surg/Oncology (Night Shift)

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: Medical Oncology (24 beds)
Staffing: 19 staff members, including 6 new nurses onboarding this month
Shift: Night Shift (7 PM - 7 AM)
Night Shift Staff: 1 charge nurse and 5 nurses when fully staffed
Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN) license
BLS certification
Minimum 2 years of experience in Med Surg specialty
Med/Surg experience required
Experienced RN’s only (no new grads)

Preferred Qualifications

Chemotherapy certification
ACLS certification

Typical Procedures

Standard Med Surg care
Chemotherapy administration (only by chemo-certified nurses)

Work Environment & Culture

Positive, team-oriented unit with strong charge nurse support
Remote telemetry patients included, providing diverse patient care experience
Magnet facility recognized for quality care and nurse involvement
Use of iPhone nursing system for immediate communication among care team
Known for strong teamwork and supportive environment, highly rated by float pool staff

Additional Notes

Vital signs performed every 8 hours; telemetry patients monitored every 4 hours
Chemotherapy handling restricted to chemo-certified nurses only
