Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tyrone, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule

  • 7 PM to 7 AM every other weekend and every other holiday

License & Experience Requirements

  • Must have a Pennsylvania or compact nursing license
  • Experience working in the unit is required
  • Years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated, assume minimum 1+ year based on typical RN travel roles (confirm with recruiter)

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA, ARC, Military acceptable
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA, ARC, Military acceptable (as required)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – as required
  • NIH Stroke Certification – required for all RNs, must be renewed annually
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – required for Emergency Department, Behavioral Health, and Acute Care Units; annual certification required
  • NURSYS Verification for RN license

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government issued photo ID required
  • 7-year criminal background check including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, sex offender, PA statewide (Patch Certificate)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check required
  • HHS/OIG check required
  • Education verification (transcripts, diplomas, or 3rd party verifications)
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search (Childline) within 1 year of start
  • Pennsylvania FBI Fingerprinting within 12 months of start (must be completed in PA)
  • 2 professional references within 3 years of hire
  • Skills checklist required annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 6 months or chest X-ray within 5 years
  • Tdap vaccination within past 10 years (declinations accepted with facility form)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; declinations accepted with facility form; candidates born before 1957 exempt
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination accepted
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox; declinations accepted
  • Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov-April); mask required if declined through 3/31/2025
  • COVID vaccine or facility-specific declination required
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Alcohol breathalyzer test within 30 days of start (not required at some facilities)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport style, no filters)
  • Completion of orientation packet and acknowledgements prior to start
  • Completion of medical surveillance checklist prior to start
  • Completion of bloodborne pathogen quiz prior to start
  • Completion of vaccine declination forms if applicable

Competency Exams

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • General competency exam as applicable

This position requires compliance with all listed certifications, background checks, health documents, and facility-specific requirements prior to start. Annual renewals of certain certifications (NIH Stroke, MAB/CPI) are mandatory.
