Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Float Pool)

Position Details

• Specialty: Med/Surg Float Pool RN
• Work Setting: Floating between main campus and sister facility (15 minutes away)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Patient Ratios: 1:2
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (No first-timers accepted; candidate must have prior travel experience and be comfortable floating)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call: No
• Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
• NIH and TNCC preferred but not required

Clinical Skills & Special Requirements

• Para/thoracentesis
• Intubation
• Central line placement
• Arterial line placement
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Care of ventilated patients

Work Hours & Scheduling

• Contracted hours guaranteed
• 40 hours per week (8 and 10 hour shifts)
• 36 hours per week (12 hour shifts)
• No more than 1 request for time off (RTO) allowed; no RTO within first 2 weeks; max 10 days off; no full calendar weeks off

Licensure & Local Candidates

• Compact license accepted
• Pending license accepted
• Local candidates accepted

• Rapid Response Team includes members from each department

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 90 days, updated annually
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (T-Spot or QuantiFERON Gold within 45 days of start; PPD not accepted) or negative chest X-ray if prior positive TB
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titers negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or completed vaccine series within 2 years
  • Varicella: Titer, 2 vaccines, or history of disease
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel with chain of custody within 30 days of start
• Flu shot required during flu season (October 1 - March 31); declinations not accepted
• Colorado CAPS check required prior to start and if 30+ day gap between assignments

Additional Notes

• Must meet or exceed competency exam scores (minimum 80%) including medication/pharmacology competency
• Photo required for badge issuance
• CO CAPS Release Authorization form required before start
• No on-call duties required

This position is ideal for experienced travel nurses comfortable with floating between facilities and managing complex Med/Surg patients requiring advanced skills.
