Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech / Sonographer
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Facility: Catholic Medical Center (HCA Healthcare)
Employment Type: Travel
Unit Information
- Department: Ultrasound, Level A Radiology
- Beds/Rooms: 4 ultrasound rooms
- Staffing:
- Total staff: 14
- Day shift: 4 sonographers + supervisor
- Second shift: 1 sonographer after 7:30 PM
- Night shift: 1 sonographer
- Patient Ratios: 8-10 patients per 8-hour shift
- Equipment: Siemens Acuson S200 & GE Logiq E10
- EMR System: Allscripts
- PACS: InteleRad
- Patient Population: Pediatric to geriatric
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience with diverse ultrasound types
- Knowledge of anatomy and pathology; ability to distinguish normal vs abnormal findings
- Basic scanning skills with understanding of sonographic physics and techniques
- Clinical experience in hospital or acute care settings, including general, vascular, and OB-GYN sonography
- Required certifications: BLS, RDMS, NH MIRT Licensure
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications such as RVT, OB-GYN, AB
- Experience in OR and ultrasound-guided procedures
- At least 1 year of experience beyond education
Typical Procedures Performed
- Thoracentesis, paracentesis, fine needle aspirations (thyroids, parotids, lymph nodes)
- Soft tissue masses or lymph node biopsies
- Liver and renal biopsies
- Drainages (abscesses, cysts, hematomas, gallbladders)
- Thrombin injections
- OR procedures: breast needle placements, carotids, D&Cs, prostate biopsies

- Adherence to department policies; no gossip culture
Additional Information
- Opportunities for extra shifts within the department
- Potential breast ultrasound shifts available (requires BCC certification)
- Dress code: professional, clean scrubs or radiology-themed t-shirts of any color
- Attendance and PTO policies must be followed; all exam protocols strictly adhered to
- Weekends covered by weekend staff; no on-call required for travel staff (call tree in place for permanent staff)
