Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)

Job Description

• Specialty: MS/Tele RN (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
• Patient Population: Cardiac Unit
• Shift Ratios:

  • Day/Evening: 5:1 (stretch 6-7)
  • Night: 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
• Support Staff: PCTs perform vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs; in-house phlebotomy team handles peripheral lab draws
• Nursing Responsibilities: PICC lines and central line care
• Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
• Block Scheduling: Attempted but not guaranteed
• Locals: Not accepted within 75 miles
• Pending License: Not accepted

Required Experience & Certifications

• Minimum Years of Specialty Experience: 1 year
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) mandatory
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as required by unit
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification)
• Epic charting experience preferred

Special Requirements & Skills

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Use of Rapid Response Teams
• Peripheral line care/management
• Oxygen delivery devices: nasal cannula, face masks, portable oxygen tanks
• Non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions

Health & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract, including but not limited to:

• Physical exam (within 1 year)
• Fit mask test (annual)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (during flu season)
• Eye exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background & Verification Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check (felony checks) within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
• Education verification from primary source required
• Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Employment verification of at least 2 past employments
• References: 2 references within 3 years (for Aya candidates)
• State-specific checks including sex offender registry and Medicaid exclusion list (New York)

Additional Notes

• No on-call requirement
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
• Facility uses Epic for charting
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
• Facility-specific documents and modules must be completed prior to start

This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical/telemetry nursing, comfortable with cardiac patient care, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with variable shift ratios and floating requirements. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
