Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Requirements

• License: Must have New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Geographic Restriction: Locals accepted only if residing more than 75 miles from facility
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Charting System: EPIC required
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as required by unit
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)

Patient Care & Unit Details

• Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7 (MedSurg)
• Unit Size: 26 beds
• Patient Population: Post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, cardiac pharmacological interventions
• Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Peripheral line care/management
• Respiratory Support: Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management
• Professional Skills: Isolation precautions

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Various health documents required within 5 days of contract signing, including but not limited to:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
  • Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
• References and employment verification required
• State-specific documents including NYS Nurse Aide Registry and criminal background checks as applicable

Additional Notes

• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
• Orientation and competency exams required as per unit and profession
• Photo for badge required (passport-style with solid background)

This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing, who hold a current NY license and are comfortable working in a tertiary care hospital setting with cardiac patients. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
