Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm - 7am)
• Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry
• Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
  • At least 18 months permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel
• Licensure: Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
  • Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start
• References: One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required to qualify for submission. Charge RN references accepted.

Assessments & Orientation

• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication competency test must be passed during orientation
• Pass/fail testing (EKG/Medication) required for all bedside RNs (except OR) during orientation
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory
• Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video training cannot be skipped

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
• Background check required prior to start, including:

  • FCRA compliant 7-year search
  • SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender registry, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually

  • Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
  • Fingerprints must be done under nursing code 4723.09
  • Candidates must also complete fingerprinting at the facility
• Education verification required for all candidates

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or QGold/TSPOT) or chest X-ray if history of positive TB, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Additional Requirements

• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in an acute care setting similar to the assignment
• Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required
• Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing requirements
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

Summary

This is a night shift travel RN position in Med/Surg Telemetry requiring a minimum of 2 years recent experience and 18 months permanent experience in the specialty. Candidates must hold an Ohio or compact state nursing license and current BLS and ACLS certifications. Compliance with extensive background checks, fingerprinting, health screenings, and facility-specific training modules is mandatory. Passing competency tests during orientation is required to continue employment.
