- Dress Code:
- Licensed nursing personnel (RN, LVN): solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except in Children’s Hospital and Women’s Services units)
- Unlicensed personnel: solid hunter green uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except noted exceptions)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (1YR/1ST TIMERS OK)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- Other certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring, IV Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background Check: Must be within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- Education Verification: Required for all candidates; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report
- State-specific searches and verifications as applicable (e.g., WA State Patrol Search, OBRA Registry for CNAs in WA)
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps/overlaps
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit Mask Test: Required for travel nurses starting on or after 2/5/2024; must be updated annually
- Immunizations/Vaccinations:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Flu Vaccine during flu season (9/1–3/30) or declination
- COVID Vaccine or declination
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024
Scheduling and Work Environment
- Floating Policy: Acknowledgement required; may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Weekends required 6 out of 6 weeks
- No block schedules required
- 48-hour shifts not approved

- Badge Photo: Passport-style photo required for badge issuance
- Mandatory completion of facility and specialty-specific training modules via WorkRamp LMS prior to start
- Modules include annual regulatory requirements, specialty-specific training, and regional core modules
- Epic training modules required for certain regions and specialties
- Medication and competency exams required as applicable by specialty/unit
- Skills checklists required annually for applicable units
This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level II Trauma Center with a supportive environment and clear compliance and credentialing standards. The role is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of specialty experience, including first-time travelers.
