Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lubbock, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details

- Uniform/Dress Code:
- Licensed nursing personnel (RN, LVN): solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except in Children’s Hospital units)
- Unlicensed personnel: solid hunter green uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except noted exceptions)
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year (1YR/1ST TIMERS OK)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Must be AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certified
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Must be AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certified
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Must be AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certified
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Current certification required if applicable
- Other Certifications: Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), IV Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable and per unit requirements
- State License: Must have valid RN license and NURSYS verification as applicable
Compliance & Background Checks
- Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification required for all candidates
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly
- State-specific searches required for Washington and Oregon placements (not applicable here)
- Drug testing: 10 panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask test required for travel nurses (updated annually)
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series or positive titer or signed declination
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season or declination accepted
- COVID vaccine or declination required
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Competency exams required by specialty/unit
- Color Blind Testing if specifically requested by unit or PM team
- EFM training required for Labor & Delivery RNs (via certification or assessment exam)
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background)
- Float Policy Acknowledgement: Candidate may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors) with explanations for gaps or overlaps
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
Scheduling & Work Details
- Floating between units expected
- Weekends required (6 out of 6 weeks)
- No on-call duties
- No block schedules required
This position is suitable for Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of experience in Telemetry nursing, who are comfortable floating between units and working weekends regularly. The facility is a Level II Trauma Center with a short-term acute care setting. Compliance with a comprehensive set of certifications, background checks, health screenings, and competency exams is mandatory.
