Travel Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Facility Overview

  • Acute care facility with 815 beds
  • Regional referral center for tertiary and quaternary care
  • Only Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and children's hospital in western NC
  • Offers specialties including cardiovascular, orthopedics, neurosciences, oncology, pediatrics, women's services, and behavioral health
  • Second busiest surgical hospital in North Carolina
  • Pediatric services include a 51-bed Level III Neonatal ICU and 30 pediatric subspecialists
  • New state-of-the-art patient tower with Emergency Department, interventional procedural rooms, operating rooms, and 220 private patient rooms
  • Friendly atmosphere, supportive management, and growth opportunities

Unit Information

  • Location: Asheville Surgery Center
  • Staff: 88 total
  • Shifts: Day shift with specialized nursing and surgical tech support
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 in OR; perianesthesia ratios vary by acuity
  • Equipment: Stryker, Steris, Smith & Nephew
  • EMR System: Cerner Surginet
  • Case Types:
    • Ophthalmology
    • Orthopedics/Sports Medicine/Hands/Foot & Ankle
    • Gynecology/Urology
    • Plastic Surgery
    • General Surgery
    • Pediatrics

Typical Procedures

  • Cataracts, retina procedures
  • Knee and shoulder arthroscopy
  • Hand, foot, and ankle procedures
  • Gallbladder and hernia surgery
  • Breast procedures including reconstruction and cosmetic
  • Cystoscopy, prostate biopsy
  • Pediatric dental, orthopedic, and general surgery
  • Hysteroscopy, dilation & curettage (D&C)

Requirements

  • Specialty: Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech)
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in surgery including the case mix listed above
  • Certifications:
    • ARRT Certification
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in ambulatory surgery (>1 year)
    • CNOR certification

Work Environment & Culture

  • Close-knit, family-oriented, friendly, and engaged team
  • Dress code: Scrubs provided (green)
  • Floating areas include Main Operating Room (MOR), Vascular Operating Room (VOR), and Endoscopy at main campus
  • On-call: Late call 2 times per week (stay until last case completed), backup call coverage
