Travel RN Opportunity - Chattanooga, Tennessee

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Location: Chattanooga, TN
  • Unit: 3West Cardiac
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Number of Beds: 30
  • Patient Ratio: 5-6 patients per nurse
  • Staffing: Unit clerk on days, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) day & night, Nursing Supervisor, Hospitalists
  • Equipment: Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose, Philips Telemetry and MP2’s
  • Documentation System: Meditech-HCA version
  • Medication Systems: WOW with med drawers, PyxisES dispensing system
  • Scheduling: Equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
  • Floating Policy: Float to general medical/surgical, Orthopedics, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and surgical units with oncology as needed
  • Patient Experience: Bedside rounding, hourly rounding with 5P’s, communication with PCTs about patient needs, use of glass board and video kiosk for updates

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Certification
  • Registered Nurse License

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience in Specialty: Minimum 2 years
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not specified (assumed not required)

Skills & Procedures

  • Preferred Knowledge: Cardiac nursing knowledge
  • Advanced Skills: Management of Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips
  • Procedures Performed: Chest tube management, wound vac management, EKGs as needed

Unit Policies & Guidelines

  • Documentation of telemetry application and rhythm strip acknowledgment each shift
  • Strict "No Pass Zone" for bed alarms, call lights, IV alarms, etc.
  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs for RNs; no artificial or gel nails or gel nail polish allowed

Additional Information

  • Experienced Charge Nurses with 12 to 39 years seniority on dayshift and 15+ years on nightshift
  • Shared Governance model at unit and facility level
  • Recognized with Daisy and Bee Awards, iHEAL nominations
