Job Opportunity: Tele RN - IMCU/Stepdown Unit (3W)

Location: Uniontown, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Unit: 3W Stepdown (IMCU - Telemetry/Stepdown)
• Beds: 28 private beds
• Patient Acuity: Heavy cardiac focus including dysrhythmias, CVAs, and a mix of other conditions; patients downgraded from ICU
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5 (1:6 if MedSurg acuity)
• EMR System: Cerner currently, transitioning to EPIC

Certifications & Experience Requirements

• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Specialty Experience: Not explicitly stated; implied experience in telemetry/stepdown or critical care nursing preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Job Responsibilities

• Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips (central monitor station for entire hospital)
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin
• Manage Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow oxygen devices
• No sedation drips; insulin drips are set-rate only
• May float to ICU as needed to assist
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations (every other weekend and every other holiday)

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• Shift Times:

  • Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (days and nights)
• Orientation: 2 shifts with a preceptor, floor-specific

Support & Environment

• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Intensivist coverage in ICU 7 days/week from 7 AM to 7 PM, on-call after hours
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• No dedicated IV team; ICU charge nurses or ICU Director assist with difficult IV sticks
• Nurse aides present during day and mid shifts; no CNA coverage after 11 PM
• Charge nurse coverage: Day charge nurse has no assignments; night charge nurse may have assignments
• Scrub color: Navy blue (jackets must also be navy blue if worn)
• Director is communicative and flexible with scheduling, including block scheduling

Additional Notes

• Must submit an unexpired copy of driver’s license with application
• Cannot submit to more than one position within the hospital system at a time

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry or stepdown nurses comfortable with cardiac patients and telemetry monitoring, who are looking for a 13-week contract in Pennsylvania.
