Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia

Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
- Patient Care: Care for admitted patients boarding in the Emergency Department awaiting inpatient bed placement
- Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
- Float Requirement: Must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment)
Licensure & Certifications
- Required:
- DC Registered Nurse License (pending DC license accepted at time of submission but must have license prior to start)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Additional Certifications (as required by unit):
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
Required Skills
- Cerner electronic health record system
- MS/Tele (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
- Feeding tube care and management
- Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
- Renal failure care
- IV therapy and phlebotomy, including starting IVs
- Heparin protocols
- PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia)
- Nasal cannula use
- Isolation precautions
Preferred Skills
- Cardiac telemetry
- ER holding area experience
- PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown unit experience
Additional Requirements & Information
- Must provide proof of pending DC RN license at submission and have license before start date
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state and federal searches
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual updates)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
- Hepatitis B titer or series or signed declination
- Varicella documentation or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam required within 1 year of start, with specific scoring criteria and remediation if needed
- Must complete facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
- Must be willing and able to accept assignments including COVID-19 patients
References & Work History
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
