Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 8:30 AM - 9:00 PM)
- Schedule: On-call rotation and every other weekend required
- Specialty: Dialysis (In-Center Hemodialysis - IHD)
- Experience Required: Minimum 18 months recent permanent Dialysis experience prior to travel
- Licensure: Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- References: One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required for submission
Clinical Information
- Provides hemodialysis services in dialysis unit and bedside ICU patients (no CRRT therapy)
- Connects and disconnects patients from peritoneal dialysis treatment
- Primarily uses Fresenius dialysis machines with full orientation provided
- Does not use PIRRT or Tablo machines
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) with specific nursing code (4723.09)
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract and updated annually
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
- Fit mask (N95) fit testing within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Drug testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Competency & Training Requirements
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication administration during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6-month gap between contracts)
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
Employment History & References
- Application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty
- Two references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Candidates must be prepared for on-call and weekend shifts
- No CRRT or PIRRT responsibilities; focus on IHD and peritoneal dialysis
