Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatrics (Nights)

Position Overview

• Small pediatric unit with a maximum census of 3 patients
• Patient-to-nurse ratio: 3:1
• No call-outs allowed; reliable and dependable travelers only
• Backup support available from Family Birthplace staff, respiratory and IV therapists
• Security badge with panic button provided for immediate help
• Family involvement encouraged with "rooming in" for parents
• Playroom and in-room entertainment available for patients without contagious illness

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule & Time Off

• Block scheduling NOT considered
• Very limited requested time off (RTO) allowed; maximum 3 days, preferably less
• Only one holiday off will be approved
• No call or call-back required for this assignment

Experience & Qualifications

• Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of current pediatric nursing experience
  • Pediatric skills checklist current within 1 year (must be documented)
  • Medical-Surgical skills checklist current within 1 year (must be documented)
  • Massachusetts RN License (must be uploaded with profile)
  • Active American Heart Association certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (all required and must be current)
• Preferred:

  • Adult Medical-Surgical experience (for float coverage)
  • Meditech Expanse experience
  • BSN degree preferred
• Must have own vehicle for this assignment
• Permanent address must be included in profile
• Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required

Additional Notes

• This is a very small unit; patient care is highly sensitive to staffing reliability
• Orientation includes 8 hours of non-billable time
• Overtime and holiday multipliers apply
• The facility is a 298-bed teaching hospital recognized for patient safety and clinical excellence

This position is ideal for experienced pediatric RNs who are dependable, have strong pediatric and medical-surgical skills, and are comfortable working in a small, closely monitored unit with limited time off.
