Job Opportunity: RN Surgery (OR with Cardiac Experience)
Location: Passaic, New Jersey
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
- Coordinate patient care with surgeons and anesthesiologists.
- Direct and guide OR technicians and other personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality patient care, efficient patient flow, and unit organization.
- Adhere to regulations, standards, and hospital/unit policies and procedures.
- Participate in performance improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services.
- Serve as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.
Work Schedule & Call Requirements
- 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Call is mandatory:
- Minimum 1 call per week on a weekday from 11 PM to 7 AM (max 2 calls per week).
- Weekend call once every 5th weekend (Saturday and Sunday, 24 hours each day).
- Call is taken from home via personal cell phone; no on-site presence required unless called in.
- If called in, must arrive within 30 minutes.
Required Qualifications
- Current and valid New Jersey RN license.
- Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintained.
- Current ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintained.
- Current PALS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintained.
- Minimum of 1 year previous perioperative experience or on-the-job training.
- Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) certification preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Pre/Post-operative experience required.
Required Certifications, Testing, and Health Requirements
- BLS, ACLS, PALS (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
- Prime Basic Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80% score).
- Prime Basic Rhythm Interpretation Screening (minimum 80% score).
- COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses plus booster) or completed declination.
- MMR vaccination or positive titer showing immunity.
- Annual respirator fit test (must be completed prior to start if not available onsite).
- Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity (declinations not accepted at some locations).
- Influenza vaccine or declination (required during flu season).
- TB test within one year of start date.
- Driver’s license, State ID, or Passport.
- Varicella vaccination or immunity.
- Tdap vaccination (declinations not accepted at some locations).
- Physical/Health statement completed annually or within 60 days of start date.
- Prime OIG screening.
- Prime Core Competencies Exam (minimum 80% score).
- Prime Skills Checklist.
- Prime Color-blind test (annual).
- National criminal background check within one year of start date (with state-specific exceptions).
- Prime Agency Attestation.
- Prime SAM/EPLS exclusion check.
- Prime Form I-9 (Employment eligibility verification).
- Prime Specialty Exam (minimum 80% score).
- Prime Job Description signed by employee.
- DCI/BVP (Workplace Violence Prevention) certification.
- Prime Drug Screening (minimum 10-panel test including THC).
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: RN Surgery (OR with Cardiac experience)
- Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year perioperative experience (or on-the-job training)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Additional Notes
- Must be able to take call as specified.
- CNOR certification and BSN degree are preferred but not mandatory.
