Certifications Required

  • ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
  • BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
  • PALS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., Chemotherapy, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification) - verify with clinical track

Licensure

  • Valid RN license for Texas
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • State-specific license requirements apply

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education verification required for all candidates
  • Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal requirement)
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates

Orientation & Training

  • Must complete Providence-specific WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
    • Core regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules for ER and leadership roles
    • Annual regulatory modules
  • Epic training modules required within a week of orientation (if applicable)

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
  • Float policy acknowledgment required (may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)
  • Medication and competency exams as applicable
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

Work Environment

  • Short Term Acute Care hospital with 49 staffed beds
  • Level IV Trauma Center
  • Parking available free in unrestricted spaces
  • OR provided; wear street clothes to facility

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Room requiring at least 2 years of specialty experience.
