Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Unit: Transplant ICU
- Weekend Requirement: Weekends included in rotation
- Float Requirement: Must float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
Requirements
Licenses & Certifications
- DC Registered Nurse (RN) License must be in hand prior to start date (pending license accepted for later start dates at a lower rate, but proof of pending status required at submission)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Multi-system organ failure
- IV insulin protocols
- GI surgery
- Chronic/Acute renal failure and IV therapy
- CVA/Acute stroke management
- External ventricular drains (EVD)
- Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
- ICP monitoring
- Post neurosurgery management
- Spinal cord injury
- Traumatic brain injury
- Respiratory/thoracic care
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions (use of PPE)
- Phlebotomy
- Surgical wounds with drains/Wound Vac (charge experience preferred)
Vaccinations
- Flu vaccine required (facility policy)
Additional Requirements & Competencies
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed)
- Immunizations/documentation required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates required)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) prior to start date
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (Relias Dysrhythmia Basics A exam) required annually with remediation if failed
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps
Prior Travel Experience
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required (or 1 month of per diem assignment for per diem personnel)
