Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Varied)

Job Summary

Seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide safe, reliable, and compassionate care, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role involves caring for patients in a med-surg setting with a focus on neurology/oncology.

Shifts Available

• 3 days a week, 12-hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM), every third weekend
• 3 days a week, 12-hour shifts (day or night), every fourth weekend
• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
• Weekend evening shifts (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday nights)

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments including history, physical exams, diagnostic data, and patient input to develop nursing diagnoses and care goals
• Collaborate with patients and families to create individualized care plans
• Provide education on pre- and post-operative procedures, diagnostic testing, discharge planning, and preventive care
• Adapt patient education strategies based on age, culture, and readiness to learn
• Mentor new associates and serve as a preceptor when needed
• Participate in hospital governance and performance improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Required)
• Current RN licensure in Iowa or a compact state (Required)
• Current BLS certification (Required)
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Multicultural sensitivity (Required)
